An institution on the Upper West Side. New organic foods and health supplements section. People
come from all over the city to shop here. Of special note: many foods specially imported by
Fairway only, from France--things you'll find only in France and at Fairway, like French
walnuts--so delicious they taste like maple walnut ice cream!
Zabar's Broadway at 80th Street (#1 subway, M104, M79 bus)
The other Upper West Side institution. Does a big online order business. Lots of kosher and
delicatessen items along with upmarket emporium items. People come from all over the city and
out of town to shop. Has a kitchen equipment section upstairs with all the top name brands.

Public School 166 - 132 West 89th Street - Kindergarten through 5th grade - considered one of
UWS's best
Public School 87 - 160 West 78 Street - Kindergarten thru 5th grade. Although it has no Web
site, this is the other top elementary school on the UWS. (212)678-2826

Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School ("Columbia Prep") 5 West 93rd Street. Kindergarten
thru 12th grade. For over 200 years associated with Columbia University. Now independent, but
with much cooperation between the two. Excellent reputation.
Ethical Culture Fieldston School Pre-kindergarten thru 12th grade. 33 Central Park West A top
school. Famous graduate: Robert Morgenthau, District Attorney for New York.
Trinity School, 139 West 91st Street. Kindergarten thru 12th grade. Another top school. Founded
in 1709 as a school for boys attached to historic Trinity Church in the Financial District, is now
coed, all religions. Famous graduate: John McEnroe.
